Figure

In this section you’ll find information about our recent and forthcoming projects. We are keen to respond to the needs of schools and colleges in the local area by sharing ways in which we could work in partnership. Our projects bring together culturally diverse young people and arts practitioners, establishing links between artist and venue and developing new audiences within the local community.

Recent projects included:

Shakespeare Summer Course

This exciting course was delivered at the UCL’s Bloomsbury Theatre in July. 25 year ten & eleven students from 5 schools in Camden participated.
Organised by the Education department and involving tutors ranging from professional theatre practitioners to UCL’s English dept, the course involved intensive workshops exploring the unique relationship between actor, audience and play text.

City & Islington College – Final Major Project

A 5 month collaborative outreach project for BTEC Performing Arts students involving playwright Christopher Rodriguez, Associate Director of Talawa Theatre. The students created and performed an original theatre piece both at City & Islington College and the Bloomsbury Theatre on 5th June.

Foundling Museum

An exciting new partnership with the Foundling Museum, we offer drama workshops developed in consultation with drama teachers. They support cross curricular learning from KS2 all the way up to post 16 A Level/BTEC. These serve as a great stimulus material for a devised exam piece at GCSE/post 16 level.

The Iris Project

This project brings together students of University College London and pupils from schools in the London Borough of Hackney to explore the background and performance of Ancient Greek Drama. Introducing young people to Classical theatre through workshops, the objective of the project in its first year was to stage a double-bill performance (one old comedy; one tragedy) in their own schools and the Bloomsbury Theatre.
