Skellig

Birmingham Stage Company present Skellig by David Almond. Ten-year-old Michael was looking forward to moving into a new house. But now his baby sister is ill and his parents are frantic. Then Michael wanders into the crumbling garage and sees something lying beneath the spiderwebs and flies - is it a man or an animal? Michael confides in his new friend Mina and together they carry the creature Skellig into the light, changing their world forever. "A story that is as moving for adults as it is entertaining for children; I defy anyone to get to the final curtain without a tear in their eye." What's On Stage

John Hegley

John's signature tales this time refer to a Frenchman with some unusual (but clean) habits, which include burying his dogs' kennel and his own luggage pieces. The stories appear alongside other new works including an address to aliens on the subject of transport, a poem about a non-talking parrot and some animal impersonations with the aid of a handkerchief. The audience are invited to sing along. But not to dance.
