Cysgod y Cryman
Presented by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.
A stage adaptation in Welsh by Sion Eirian of a classic Welsh-language novel by Islwyn Ffowc Elis.
The Welsh Language National Theatre Company make their London debut with a production, in Welsh, of Islwyn Ffowc Elis's 'Book of the Century'. Set in rural Powys in the 1950's 'Cysgod y Cryman' (Shadow of the Sickle) dramatically portrays a period of upheaval. The new generation is turning its back on its roots and it's head to head between Harri, the communist atheist, and his father, Edward Vaughan, the estate owner and old style Liberal. A great story on an epic scale.
