AES Dance Gala

The Arts Educational School Dance Gala will feature works by guest choreographers Robert Cohan, Michael Corder and Stuart Avon Arnold who have re-created dances for the students. Cohan's beautiful and evocative 'Stabat Mater' will be performed to music performed by musicians and singers from the school, and was re-created by Anne Went and Cohan during a residency at the school in January. Classical chorographer Michael Corder has recreated his piece 'Courtly Dances, originally choreographed for Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet and Stuart Avon Arnold has recreated a spiritual and lyrical jazz performance for the students.

In addition to working with the guest choreographers, the dance students will also be performing works created for them by school choreographers, Terry Wright for classical ballet, Lorraine Jones for Jazz and Tim Blowfield for Contemporary Dance.

It will be an evening that will showcase the diverse talents of students of the Dance Course from age 14-19 and provide a glimpse of some outstanding, talented young dancers.
