Cara Dillon

"Quite possibly the worlds most beautiful female voice..." - Q Magazine.

"Cara Dillon, is without exaggeration, amongst the very finest to be heard today....." - fRoots

"There are few on this Island to equal her tremendous musical talent." - RTE

It's clear that Cara Dillon has an incredible talent which never fails to leave audiences breathless with wonder. Her crystalline vocals have been winning her acclaim ever since she won the All Ireland Traditional Singing Trophy at the age of 14. Her 3 solo albums to date have had astonishing critical success and she's been showered with accolades including 2 BBC Folk Awards, Hot Press Magazine Award (Best Roots Act), Irish Meteor Award "Best Female Singer 2004", Irish Tatler Magazine "Woman of The Year" 2003, Indie Acoustic Project "Best Celtic Album 2006" and many more.

Born in 1975 in Co. Derry, Northern Ireland, Cara grew up in a close, musical family. Whilst she was still a teenager she went on to sing with Oige, De Dannan and then Equation. It was in this band that she met her husband and musical collaborator Sam Lakeman. The combination of Cara's expressive vocals and Lakeman's lyrical piano and fresh production squeezed new life into ancient material and their partnership has developed considerably to feature a distinct and distinguished musical identity of their own. As well as touring the world over, Cara and Sam have also taken part in some of the most exciting project and events around, including singing at the Opening Ceremony of the 2006 Ryder Cup in front of a TV audience of 300 million, the Transatlantic Sessions, The BBC Radio Ballads and RTE's "Other Voices".

Whether she's singing her native songs of lost love and emigration, or their original compositions, you will be hard pressed to find a more emotive and captivating performer. Cara Dillon is at the very top of her field and one has the feeling she'll be there for a very long time.
