Daughter to the Olympic Champion Diagoras from the island of Rhodes, Kallipateira was the first woman ever to set foot on the Stadium of Ancient Greece, even though it was forbidden by law for all women to do so. Kallipateira’s disguise in order to admire her Olympic sons, brothers and nephews, was noticed by the Judges, and they called her to an apology. Kallipateira imperiously responded: "I am not like any other women and being a mother of Olympic Champions, gives me the rightful privilege for my present at the Stadium".
