Hottomala The Wonderland presents the journey of two thieves fleeing incarceration, finding themselves mysteriously thrust into a utopian idealistic world; a world that is devoid of money and materialistic desires. Hottomala explores the fundamental questions of life, challenging the nature and ideals of a capitalist society in which consumerism acts as a shroud for the basic principles of happiness. The thieves find themselves functionless in a society where crime has no place and have to reassess their social position in this utopian community. It is a realm in which life is fulfilled by simplicity. Happiness is achieved through a sense of sharing on every level.

This theatrical spectacular ingeniously transcends the language barriers of Asian theatre through the innovative use of music, dance, and performing arts and also by introducing theatre with subtitles.

From the moment you step into the theatre you are transported to another world; a world of hustle and bustle, vibrant colour, hypnotic dance and stunning visuals. The electricity generated is infectious, being charmed at every opportunity, even on entering the theatre by cheeky acrobats.

By drawing on the sizzling influences of Bollywood and effortlessly amalgamating this with the exciting and visually stunning world of carnival, the magical mood of Hottomala is created.

Hottomala is bold, innovative and challenging. It uniquely embraces and re-establishes the age old controversial debate, essentially questioning and probing the elements of an ideal society in mystical and childlike manor that is refreshing, entertaining, engaging and educating.
