  3. SSEES Centenary Film Festival

    Bloomsbury Studio
    Mon, 12/10/2015 to Thu, 17/12/2015

The centenary film festival of the School of Slavonic and East European Studies.

University College London, offers a rare opportunity to sample cinematic works from Russia and Eastern, Central, and South-Eastern Europe.

The twenty-three films being screened constitute an important testimony to the profound social, political, and cultural transformations that have occurred during the last one hundred years in this turbulent part of the world. They also offer a wide range of poetic styles and cinematic genres: psychological drama, historical drama, poeticized historical epic, comedy, thriller, literary adaptation, philosophical meditation, and documentary short. Some are now regarded as classics of world cinema; others are less well-known, even among film specialists, and are receiving their international premiere as part of the festival.
