UCLThe Bloomsbury Theatre belongs to UCL (University College London) and forms part of the university environment.

Every year UCL fund around 12 weeks of usage for UCL Departments and student groups. During this time use of the theatre is free or heavily subsidised. Outside of the allocated weeks UCL departments are very welcome to use the theatre if is available. Due to the way in which the theatre is funded a charge is made for all usage not during the weeks detailed below.

Use by UCL Academic Departments and Corporate Support Services

Each year 2-3 weeks are allocated for use by UCL Departments. These normally consists of at least one week in November and one week in February. The Theatre Director contacts all Heads of Department in December inviting bids for time in the following academic year. These bids must be submitted by the beginning of term 3 (April). Decisions regarding allocation are normally communicated by the end of May.

Productions by UCL Departments are normally broadly academic in their outlook, although factors of outreach, audience profile and participation are also important.

Use by UCL student groups

Student groups that want to use their theatre for their productions must be affiliated societies of UCL Union. Each year 9 weeks are allocated to student societies, these weeks are normally in November, February and March. UCL Union's Theatre Users Sub Committee control the allocation of these weeks. Bids are normally solicited by the Student Activities Officer in January, with decisions being made before the end of the second term (March) for the following academic year.
